Check this awesome find, Chicago Garage Find 1969 Olds 442 Convertible sitting since 1979!!

A 1969 Olds 442 Convertible that had been sitting in a garage in Chicago since 1979. Despite being untouched for over four decades, the car was in surprisingly good condition. The engine was mostly original, and the body showed no major signs of rust.

The car was painted grain in the 70s, but the trim tag revealed that it was originally saffron yellow. It was a Lansing built car with black trim, black interior, and a black top. It was a well-optioned car with the standard 442 engine, bucket seats, power steering, and air conditioning. It had over a hundred thousand miles on it when it was put away in 1979, but it was a great Cruiser nonetheless.

The vintage car enthusiast, who documented the car in a YouTube video, was fortunate enough to get a picture of the cow tag and the VIN tag. The car was a two-door convertible, obviously from the 69 model year. The car was a 442, not a 442 like he mistakenly said in the video, with an automatic transmission and powered drum brakes.

The owner of the car had a modified 1974 Corvette, which he had built for racing, and planned to sell the 442 to get the Corvette back on the road. Unfortunately, the vintage car enthusiast lost touch with the owner during the pandemic, and it’s unclear what happened to the car.

Fast forward to the present day, and the vintage car enthusiast is back in the same garage where he found the 442. He’s replaced the old light fixtures with new ones and is in the process of cleaning and organizing the garage. He’s also planning to work on his own green car, which he hopes to take for a drive soon.

The vintage car enthusiast’s love for cars and his passion for restoration and preservation is truly inspiring. His dedication to bringing these classic cars back to life is what keeps the memory of these vehicles alive for generations to come. The 1969 Olds 442 Convertible may have been forgotten for over 40 years, but it’s stories like this that keep the legacy of these cars alive.
